What you need to eat after working out

This is one of my favorites challenges when I finish my work out. After your session, your body needs to recover energy and it’ll be ideal to approach that moment to give more nutrients to your muscles. Just like a car when finish a long ride and needs more gas. Of course, your body is not a Ferrari but it could be. It depends how you treat it.

I have read it here and there about this topic and the formula looks like: protein and carbo. Why? Because protein is exactly what your muscles needs to recover themselves and carbo helps to that protein to be useful. I must be honest, it’s boring to me take proteins shakes every time. I need real food. So I decided to make it by myself.

These are my top 3 of foods post training, simple and delicious. You can eat it at home or at work. Even when you are driving. The most important thing is: eat. Really. You are not going to be fat for this. Try the cleanest option and take it.

Option 1. Couscous and chicken

Pour the couscous into a heat-proof bowl. Bring the water to a boil in the microwave and then pour over the couscous. Stir to moisten, cover the bowl with a dinner plate or plastic wrap, and wait 10 minutes. I grilled the chicken breast with a little salt until it was golden for both sides. This is just delicious.


Option 2. Salmon pita wrap

Salmon is super tasty so doesn’t need to many things for flavor. I just wrapped it in aluminum paper and took it to the oven for 45 minutes, then I put some dill. I put the pita bread for a few minutes in the toaster. Add some pickles, onions and lettuce and is fantastic! I try this for a lunch after my kickboxing class.


Option 3. Eggs, avocado and “arepa”

The easiest one. Take two eggs and place in an anti-stick pan with some coconut oil. Bread just to the toaster. When eggs are ready put avocado slices above the bread and enjoy. I use for this recipe some seeds that are also a great source of protein and healthy fats. Btw, that “white thing” that you see on the picture is named “arepa” typical from Venezuela. I am going to explain how to make it in another post.
